Meeting Description:
Récital 2006, the student conference associated with TALN, will be held in
Leuven (Belgium) from 10 to 13 April 2006. Récital is intended for PhD
students or researchers having recently obtained a Ph.D in the field of
natural language processing.
Récital 2006, la conférence annuelle des jeunes chercheurs associée à TALN,
se déroulera à Leuven (Belgique) du 10 au 13 avril 2006. Elle est réservée
aux doctorants et aux jeunes docteurs ayant obtenu leur doctorat depuis
moins d'un an.
Récital a pour vocation d'offrir aux jeunes chercheurs en TAL l'occasion de
se rencontrer, de présenter leurs travaux et de comparer leurs approches.
Cette conférence a son propre comité de programme, constitué de chercheurs
confirmés et de jeunes docteurs.

CRITÈRES DE SÉLECTION
Les auteurs (doctorants et jeunes docteurs ayant obtenu leur doctorat
depuis moins d'un an) sont invités à soumettre des travaux de recherche
originaux, n'ayant pas fait l'objet de publications antérieures. Les
soumissions seront examinées par au moins deux spécialistes du domaine.
Seront considérées en particulier :
- l'importance et l'originalité de la contribution
- la correction du contenu scientifique et technique
- la discussion critique des résultats, en particulier par rapport aux
autres travaux du domaine
- la situation des travaux dans le contexte de la recherche
internationale
- l'organisation et la clarté de la présentation
- l'adéquation aux thèmes de la conférence
Les articles sélectionnés seront publiés dans les actes de la conférence
aux Presses universitaires de Louvain. Le volume sera distribué aux
participants en début de conférence.
MODALITÉS DE SOUMISSION
Les soumissions devront parvenir au comité d'organisation avant le 19
décembre 2005 sous forme électronique à l'adresse suivante :
recitaltedm.ucl.ac.be. Le courrier électronique devra contenir le titre de
la communication, le nom, l'affiliation, l'adresse postale, l'adresse
électronique, le numéro de téléphone et le fax de l'auteur principal.
La double soumission d'un même papier à TALN et Récital n'est pas
autorisée. Cependant il est possible d'être (co-)auteur d'un autre papier
présenté à TALN.
FORMAT POUR LES SOUMISSIONS
Les articles soumis ne devront pas dépasser 10 pages en Times 12,
espacement simple, soit environ 3000 mots, figures, exemples et références
compris. Les propositions de poster ne devront pas dépasser 3 pages.
Les articles devront être au format A4. Les feuilles de style (LateX et
Word) seront disponibles ultérieurement sur le site web de la conférence.

Récital 2006, the student conference associated with TALN, will be held in
Leuven (Belgium) from 10 to 13 April 2006. Récital is intended for PhD
students or researchers having recently obtained a Ph.D in the field of
natural language processing.
Récital aims to provide young researchers with a opportunity to meet,
present their research and compare their approaches. This conference has
its own program committee which consists of experienced researchers and
young doctors who got their PhD in the last year.
THEMES
- Lexical databases containing morphological, syntactic, semantic
and/or phonological information
- Analysis, generation and lexis in the following fields:
- Phonetics and phonology
- Morphology
- Syntax
- Semantics
- TAL Applications
- Text analysis
- Text summarization
- Text generation
- Human-computer interface using natural language
- Machine translation
- Information retrieval
- Computer-aided language learning
- Logical, symbolic and statistical approaches

SELECTION CRITERIA
Authors (PhD students and young doctors who got their PhD in the last year)
are invited to submit papers describing original, completed, and
unpublished work. Papers will be evaluated by at least two reviewers. The
criteria mainly taken into account will be:
- the importance and originality of the contribution
- the scientific and technical correctness of the work
- the comparison with related works
- the organisation and the clarity of the presentation
- the relevance of the work to the main topics of the conference
The selected papers will be published in the conference proceedings by
Louvain University Press. The proceedings will be given to participants at
the begining of the conference.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The submissions must be emailed as an attachment to the organising
committee (recitaltedm.ucl.ac.be) before December 19 2005. The email must
contain the title of the paper, the first author's name, affiliation,
postal & electronic address and telephone & fax.
Joint submission of the same paper to both TALN and Récital is not allowed.
However, one can be author/co-author of another paper presented at TALN.
SUBMISSION FORMAT
The submitted paper must not exceed 10 pages using Times 12 and single
spacing, figures, examples and references included (roughly 3,000 words).
The proposals for posters must not exceed 3 pages.
All the papers must be in A4 Format (and not US Letter). The stylesheets
(LateX & Word) will soon be availlable on the conference web site.

Meeting Description:
To celebrate 10 years of the journal English Language and Linguistics and the
publication of an all-new History of the English Language in 2006, we are
holding a three-day conference entitled Directions in English Language Studies
(DELS) which is intended to focus on current and, especially, future directions
in English Language research, both synchronic and diachronic.
The Second Circular for DELS, Directions in English Language Studies
(Manchester, 6-8 April 2006), has just been released and can be downloaded from
