Dear friends and colleagues,

With deep grief we have to inform you of the sudden death of
Sergei Anatolyevich Starostin, outstanding scholar, the creator
and soul behind the Tower of Babel project and a man of great character,
on September 30, 2005.

He will be sorely missed.
