University or Organization: University of Nevada, Las Vegas Department: Foreign Languages Job Rank: Associate Professor Specialty Areas: Translation Required Language(s): Spanish (spa) Description: The Department of Foreign Languages at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for an Associate professorship in Spanish, with expertise in Translation Studies and/or Literature in Translation, to begin August 2006. This is a full-time, 9-month, tenured position. Ph.D./Doctorate required from an accredited college or university in Spanish, Translation, or a related field. The successful candidate will have native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English. Responsibilities will include teaching courses for the Graduate Certificate in Spanish Translation, along with courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels based on candidate's (sub)-specialty and departmental need. The successful candidate is also expected to maintain an active research program and to participate in service at the department, college, and university levels. Applicants must have a publication record commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor with tenure, a documented record of teaching excellence, and a strong commitment to service.
