University or Organization: Indiana University Department: Second Language Studies Job Rank: Director of English Language Instruction Specialty Areas: Applied Linguistics; ESL Description: The Department of Second Language Studies (formerly the Department of TESOL and Applied Linguistics) seeks applicant for a tenure-track position as Director of English Language Instruction to coordinate the Intensive English Program (for nonmatriculated students) and the English Language Improvement Program (for matriculated students) working with the associate directors of the programs, with teaching responsibilities in the MA in TESOL and Applied Linguistics and the MA/PhD in Second Language Studies. Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant field and extensive administrative experience in ESL programs including budgetary matters, as well as demonstrated research or creative activity related to second language pedagogy. Areas of specialization may include teaching methodology, materials development, classroom-based research, program design, or language assessment. Applications should include a cover letter, CV, statement of professional philosophy and research plans, three research and/or creative samples, three letters of recommendation, and evidence of effective teaching of university-level content courses.
