Research Studentship (Russian) in the Surrey Morphology Group
Applications are invited for a full-time Research Studentship for three
years available immediately, leading to a PhD in the Surrey Morphology
Group, to be taken up no later than 1 June 2005. This post is for the
AHRB-funded Project "Short-term Morphosyntactic Change" awarded to
Professor Greville Corbett, Dr Matthew Baerman and Dr Dunstan Brown. The
successful candidate will work primarily with these three researchers and
with Dr Alexander Krasovitsky, the Research Fellow on the project, but will
also collaborate with other members of the SMG. The project will
investigate the remarkable change in the use of morphosyntactic categories
in Russian over the last two hundred years.
The studentship will comprise tuition fees and maintenance (rising from
10,500 in the first year). Applicants should have a First or good Upper
Second Class degree in an appropriate discipline, with a postgraduate
qualification (completed or in progress) or some postgraduate experience.
To meet the AHRB's criteria for a full award, candidates must show a
relevant connection with the UK, usually through residence. Nationals of
member states of the EU other than the UK may be eligible for a fees-only
award.
Candidates should have an excellent knowledge of Russian, practical and
conceptual. The ability to work collaboratively and to meet deadlines is
essential.
The candidate will pursue a specific agreed topic within the overall project.
