University or Organization: Saarland University Department: Anglistik, Amerikanistik und anglophone Kulturen Job Rank: Lecturer Specialty Areas: Applied Linguistics; TESOL/TEFL Required Language(s): English (eng) Description: Job opening for an applied linguist (TESOL/TEFL) The English department (FR 4.3 Anglistik, Amerikanistik and Anglophone Kulturen), Saarland University, Saarbrücken, is seeking to fill a position (full-time) beginning 04/15/2006 for a duration of 2 years for a lecturer in applied linguistics with a speciality in TESOL/TEFL. Job description Prerequisites: a doctorate in applied linguistics with a speciality in TESOL/TEFL, teaching experience and native (-like) fluency in English. Obligations: teaching (16 hours per week) lower and upper level classes in linguistics (focus on: Introduction to English linguistics- general and syntax, second language acquisition, phonetics, history and varieties of English) and practical language classes; involvement in student counselling, examination organisation and examining within the department. The salary will be according to tariff conditions relevant for Saarland University (BAT 2a i.e. 2700 - 4500 Euros per month depending on age and family status.) Full-time positions can in principle be split into part-time positions according to German law.
