Subject: Imperatives in Children's Language
I'm working with some colleagues on a project which elicits (as a by-product) keyboard text from children (aged 14/16) interacting both with other children and with adults (groups, not one-to-one). We are keen to explore comparisons with more conventional linguistic interactions (speech/sign). In particular we want to know more about the use of imperative forms in such conventional interactions. The linguistic background of the children is not uniformly unilingual English. If you know of some studies on child language which cover imperative forms please could you supply me with details. Thanks William Edmondson
