This is a contract position for 3 months initially, extendable to 1 year if performance is satisfactory. As this is a contract position, applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Knowledge & Skills: - Fluent English and at least one other major European language - Able to work with unfamiliar languages - Familiarity with Phonetic Alphabets - Experience with speech technology preferred - Pragmatic and practical attitude to pronunciations - Strong written and oral communication skills - Knowledge of the interactive development process preferred. - Excellent trouble-shooting skills - Script (Perl/Python) programming skills Education & Training: B.A. in Linguistics or in a European language with Linguistics Coursework. Related work experience is also acceptable. The Toshiba CRL Speech Technology Group is a multinational team. Established in 2002, we play a significant role in developing Toshiba's speech recognition and synthesis capabilities. Work done within the group contributes to Toshiba's core speech technology and support of European and American languages. We collaborate with Toshiba RDC in Japan, Toshiba China and the University of Cambridge.
