Those of you who receive LINGUIST List issues by email may have noticed html tags appearing in the text of some recently posted book reviews. The review editors have been experimenting with using the html b and i tags to indicate boldface and italic font shifts, and the pre tag to preserve alignment in glossed text examples, and simple charts. These tags are correctly intepreted if the issues containing them are opened in a web brower, or in an html-aware email program. However, if you open these issues using a plain-text reader, these tags will not be interpreted; i.e. the tags will show up as they were entered.
