Meeting Description:
The aim of this conference is to provide an overview of the state of the art in
research on lesser used languages, with special reference to their computational
support.
Central to the conference are methodological issues such as:
* strategies for an efficient support of lesser used languages,
* problems with theoretical approaches developed for major languages when
applied to lesser used languages and
* the cultural, economical and political specificity of a user group for which
computational resources are created.
Furthermore, the conference intends to promote the networking among participants
in order to enhance the exchange of information, experience and resources.

Workshop on the acquisition of German as a second language in a dialect
environment.
Im Workshop geht es um den Erwerb des Deutschen in der deutschsprachigen
Schweiz, aber auch z.B. in Oesterreich und in Gebieten Deutschlands, wo
Mundarten und Standardsprache nebeneinander stehen. Dieses Nebeneinander
verschiedener Varietaeten wird beim Zweitspracherwerb haeufig als sehr
problematisch empfunden, da der taegliche Input nicht oder nur teilweise dem
entspricht, was die Lernenden eigentlich lernen wollen: die deutsche Standardsprache

einen Vortrag (20 Minuten + 10 Minuten Diskussion) oder eine Thesenpraesentation
