Subject: Obituary: David Swinney
It is with a very heavy heart that we write you all to deliver very sad
news. Our dear friend and colleague David Swinney (UCSD, Psychology)
passed away on Friday, April 14th, 2006. Dave fought a stoic battle against
colon cancer for the past two years. For those who knew Dave (even a
little), you know that he was a very private person and thus he wished to
go through this journey quietly with his wife and a few close friends.
Dave spent his last few weeks in the peaceful and comfortable surroundings
of his home, with his wife Emmanuelle.
Emmanuelle has requested that she not receive phone calls at this time. A
web site has been established where, in the near future, you can share your
thoughts and memories of Dave with others. At posting time (4/25/06) the
page is not yet active, but the address will be: http://davidswinney.ucsd.edu
Per Dave's request there are no plans for a memorial service.
We hope that you will find a few minutes today and in days to come to think
about Dave and recall those great times you may have shared with him.
