(under review) The University in association with New College proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in French Linguistics in the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages from 1 October 2006 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is associated with a Supernumerary (Non-Tutorial) Fellowship at New College. No specific specialism is stipulated, but, all other things being equal, preference may be given to candidates with interests in variation and/or change in French. Candidates should have an outstanding research reputation and a publications record of international quality which will contribute substantially to the submission of the Sub-Faculty of French at the next Research Assessment Exercise. Early career applicants should show outstanding research potential. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate excellence or potential for excellence in teaching, and will be expected to supervise and examine undergraduate and graduate students; a contribution to administration in College and Faculty will also be expected.
