Description:

The UCLA Department of Linguistics will have a short term Visiting
Instructor position available to teach Introduction to Study of Language
(Ling 1) course during Fall 2006 (Sept 25-Dec 15). Ling 1 at UCLA usually
attracts approximately 350 students per quarter. The Visiting Instructor
will lecture twice a week, design assignments/exams and hold weekly office
hours. The course is assigned six teaching assistants who assist the
instructor by grading assignments and exams. The teaching assistants also
hold weekly sections and office hours to supplement/reinforce the material
presented in the lectures.

The pay scale will be in the range of $7,500 to $9,500, depending on rank.
The applicants should have a Ph.D. in Linguistics and appropriate teaching
experience.
