University or Organization: Northwestern University Department: Linguistics Job Rank: Visiting Professor Specialty Areas: Syntax Description: The Department of Linguistics at Northwestern University has an opening for a 9-month visiting position for the academic year 2006-2007 at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning Sept. 1, 2006. The successful candidate will be expected to teach five quarter-length courses over the three quarters of the academic year. Teaching will be at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and will include core courses in syntax. Preference will be given to applicants who will have completed the Ph.D. by August 2006, but advanced graduate students who have completed all requirements except the dissertation may also apply. Full consideration will be given to applications received by July 15; applications will be considered from that date until the position is filled. Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, the names of three or four references, a detailed statement of teaching interests and qualifications, a statement of any prior teaching experience, and evidence of teaching ability if available.
