University or Organization: HarperCollins Publishers Department: Dictionaries Division Specialty Areas: Text/Corpus Linguistics Required Language(s): English (eng) Description: Collins is looking to recruit an Analyst Programmer to join the highly successful Dictionaries Division, based in Glasgow. This is a varied and challenging role requiring an interest in GUI development and corpus linguistics, a flexible approach and good attention to detail. Applicants must have: - Sound knowledge of .NET, C#, Visual Studio, XML, SQL Server. - At least one year's first-hand experience of developing complex applications in Visual Studio and SQL Server or equivalent. - The ability to develop projects to tight timescales. - The ability to work with both Windows and Unix. - Good communication skills. - Proven documentation skills. - An interest in languages and linguistics (esp. corpus linguistics). In addition, the following would be desirable, but not essential: - Knowledge of C++, C, Perl, Python and/or XSLT. - An interest in typesetting.
