University or Organization: Cleveland State University Department: Department of Anthropology Job Rank: Assistant Professor Specialty Areas: Anthropological Linguistics Description: Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor Department of Anthropology Cleveland State University Position Description: The Department of Anthropology at Cleveland State University seeks a Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor for a one year, non-tenure-track position to start on August 21, 2006. This is a four-field department, comprised of five full-time anthropologists: two cultural, one cultural/linguistic, one physical and one archeologist. Area specializations include Africa, Meso-America, South America, and North America. Minimum qualifications: A.B.D. in Anthropology or a cognate discipline. Successful teaching record. Cultural area and subfield specialization open, but must complement the current configuration of the department. Must be able to teach introduction to four-field anthropology and introduction to cultural anthropology. ABD -prepared will be appointed at the Visiting Instructor rank. Preferred qualifications: Specialization in cultures and languages of the indigenous peoples of the Americas or Asia, training in linguistics/linguistic anthropology, Ph.D. in hand. Ph.D. will be appointed at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. Extensive teaching experience a plus. Assignment of courses dependent on qualifications; load may be up to three courses per semester.
