A one-day workshop on the syntax and semantics of determiners sponsored by the
University of Manitoba, will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Saturday November
25, 2006. Abstracts are invited for papers to fill five 20-minute slots.

We are pleased to announce that the 18th International Congress of Linguists
will be held from July 21 through 26, 2008, at Korea University, Seoul, Korea.
Those who are interested in organizing a workshop are invited to apply. You may
refer to the following guidelines for organizing workshops.
Guidelines for Organizing Workshops
1. (a) Each workshop will be basically allotted 3 to 5 hours, depending on
the number of accepted papers.
(b) Each workshop is distributed over 1 or 2 evenings.
2. Each oral presentation will be allotted 15 minutes, plus 5 minutes for
questions/answers and discussion.
3. The workshop organizer solely is in charge of organizing the papers thematically.
4. The moderators and the general format of the workshops will be decided by the
Local Organizing Committee, taking the workshop organizer's suggestions into
consideration.
5. The workshop organizer reviews the received abstracts. The workshop organizer
also decides how many abstracts should be accepted.
Important Dates:
(a) Deadline for Application of Organizing Workshops: November 30, 2006. (The
application should include the title and a short description of the workshop.
The number of workshops will be around ten.)
(b) Announcement of 'Call for Papers': Before December 31, 2006. (The
announcement of 'Call for Papers' will be made by LOC.)
(c) Deadline for a three-page abstract: March 31, 2007. (The receivers of these
three-page abstracts are LOC and the Workshop Organizer.)
(d) Notification of Workshop Acceptance: April 30, 2007.
(e) One-page abstract to be published in the Congress Proceedings: March 31,
2008. (The receiver of these one-page abstracts is LOC.)

Corée. Toutes les personnes désireuses d'organiser une table ronde sont invitées
à poser leur candidature. Nous vous prions de vous reporter aux directives
suivantes concernant l'organisation de tables rondes :
Directives concernant l'organisation de tables rondes
1. (a) Le temps prévu pour une table ronde est de trois à cinq heures selon le
nombre des communications acceptées.
(b) Chaque table ronde se voit attributer une ou deux soirées.
2. Le temps prévu pour une communication orale est de 15 minutes et celui pour
la discussion ou les questions-réponses qui suivent est de 5 minutes.
3. Seul l'organisateur d'une table ronde a la responsabilité d'organiser des
communications par thèmes.
4. Les animateurs et le format général des tables rondes seront décidés par le
Comité local d'Organisation, en tenant compte des suggestions des organisateurs
de chaque table ronde.
5. Les organisateurs des tables rondes examineront les résumés reçus. Ils
décideront également le nombre des communications qui doivent être faites.
Dates importantes :
(a) Date limite de candidature pour organiser des tables rondes : 30 novembre
2006. (le dossier de candidature doit inclure le titre et une description courte
de la table ronde. Le nombre des tables rondes sera d'environ dix.)
(b) Annonce de 'l'appel à communication': avant le 31 décembre 2006. (Il sera
donné par le LOC.)
(c) Date limite pour le résumé de trois pages : le 31 mars 2007. (Le LOC et les
organisateurs seront les destinataires du résumé.)
(d) Notification de l'acceptation de la table ronde : le 30 avril 2007.
(e) Résumé d'une page devant être publié dans les actes du Congrès : le 31 mars
2008. (Son destinataire est le LOC.)
