Subject: FRAMES: a Colloquium in Linguistics, Philosophy and Economics
FRAMES: a Colloquium in Linguistics, Philosophy and Economics Date: 06-Jun-2006 - 09-Jun-2006 Location: Bologna, Italy Contact: Conference Secretariat Contact Email: frames06 cilta.unibo.it Meeting URL: http://www.cilta.unibo.it/frames06 Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics Meeting Description: Framing is increasingly considered a central feature in linguistic interaction, social communication, the application of intelligence. The colloquium will explore research lines pursued in a variety of disciplines, and primarily in linguistics, philosophy and economics. Our objective will be to encourage mutual awareness, cross fertilization and the identification of new problem areas and analytical tools. The colloquium will focus, although not exclusively, upon issues relevant at the same time in manifold fields of investigation, such as the relationship between framing and non-monotonic reasoning, context-dependence, the dynamics of meaningful patterns in interactive situations. It is hoped that the colloquium will stimulate a fresh outlook on classical (and central) issues such as the evolution of natural languages, the dynamics of collective Knowledge, the possibility of coordination. We are pleased to inform you that the Centre for Theoretical and Applied Linguistics, the Department of Economics and the Department of Philosophy of the University of Bologna will jointly sponsor the conference Frames: a Colloquium in Linguistics, Philosophy and Economics.
