Under exceptional circumstances senior candidates may be considered. In keeping with the department's interdisciplinary perspective, we especially encourage applications from candidates who are committed to conducting innovative research that connects sociolinguistics to other areas of the discipline. The ideal candidate will complement and build on existing strengths within the department, and will be eager to interact with students and faculty from the broader linguistic community at the University of Michigan. A Ph.D. by the beginning of the appointment is required. Please include a letter of application, curriculum vitae, research and teaching statements, one or more representative publications, and evidence of teaching excellence. Please also arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent. (Senior candidates should instead provide names of references.)
