University or Organization: University of Puerto Rico - Rio Piedras Campus Department: English Department Web Address: http://http://www.uprrp.edu/ Job Rank: Associate Professor Specialty Areas: Applied Linguistics; Language Acquisition Required Language(s): English (eng) Description: The English Department of the College of Humanities at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, announces a tenure-track position (Assistant or Associate Professor) beginning in July, 2007, for a specialist in Applied Linguistics or TESOL to direct the ESL Program and teach ESL and general linguistics, and to teach language acquisition or writing at the undergraduate and possibly graduate level. The selected candidate will be expected to direct the ESL program and teach two courses each semester. Applicants must have a doctorate in the area of specialization from an accredited university and demonstrate commitment to research and publishing commensurate with the holding of a tenure-track position at a research-intensive, doctoral-degree-granting institution. Responsibilities include participation on committees. Competence in or willingness to learn Spanish is desirable but not required at the time of the initial appointment. Salary and benefits are competitive. Moving expenses cannot be paid. Send letter of interest indicating relevant experience, teaching philosophy and research interests; curriculum vitae; transcripts from all colleges and universities attended; and three letters of reference.
