The mission of the University is to nurture and develop the talents of students and to create applicable knowledge in order to support social and economic advancement. The student population is approximately 26,000 enrolled in over 145 programmes at the associate degree, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The medium of instruction is English. The University invites applications for the following post. Candidates with applied research achievements will receive very positive consideration. Relevant experience in business and industry will be a definite asset. Assistant Professor in Linguistics in the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics [Ref. C/710/09] Duties: Teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including BA, MA, MPhil and PhD. Candidates with a proven record of publications or strong research potential preferred. Requirements: A PhD in Linguistics or related disciplines. Able to undertake teaching and research in one or more of the following areas: Language Acquisition; Phonology, Syntax, Semantics and Discourse, preferably with experience in the comparative analysis of at least two languages, preferably Chinese, and either English, Japanese or Korean. The ability to work well with colleagues is essential. Successful candidates are expected to assume duty in early 2007. Please specify discipline(s) in the application.
