Organization: Microsoft Job Rank: Researcher Specialty Areas: Text To Speech Required Language(s): English (eng) Description: Job Title: Technical Lead Overview: The TTS team at Advanced Technology Center, Microsoft China R&D Group, has openings for experts to explore and execute serious technology research and development tasks. These positions are mainly for senior individual contributors and researchers that are able to work in our existing product development team and provide great technical depth in advanced technology development. He/She is expected to excel in domain knowledge in relevant areas of Text To Speech technology. Responsibilities: The successful candidates will be leading major technology areas in the TTS product research and development at ATC. We are looking for a go-to person mindset and very focus and in-depth technology owner. Passionate about TTS, Speech technology and team player is a must! The candidates must demonstrate track records of delivering or completing challenging tasks in the past. Qualifications: 1. A degree (PhD preferred) in computer science, EE, computational linguistic or releted fields with 3+ years experiences (industrial preferred, but academic accepted with proven records) or in Text To Speech technology areas. 2. Research (Post doc in relevant areas) or advanced product development experience in TTS areas. 3. Track record of completing a significant project with major contribution, or lead a small team in accomplishing relevant tasks in TTS relevant areas. 4. Excellent and proven skills in (>= 2 combinations): a. Natural language processing, computational linguistics and Text analysis b. Unit selection or source-filter base computational approaches. c. Digital signal processing, familiar with speech synthesis algorithm d. Hidden Markov Model and pattern recognition technology e. Machine learning, , statistical analysis and algorithms applied in speech technology (benefit if used in TTS related technology). f. Natural prosody prediction and realization in TTS 5. Proficiency of using scripts (e.g., Matlab, Perl, Prolog, Python) and programming languages (C/C++, C#, Java) 6. Excellent written and verbal English communication skill, this position requires meeting with internal and external customers or companies. Mandarin is not required, because we are situated with English spoken environment. 7. Strong problem solving skill. Ability to participate in long term product planning and strategy setting on technology roadmap.
