Subject: Events at Gallaudet

Hello,

My name is Brian Riley. I studied linguistics at Gallaudet University in
the mid-1980's and am still interested in the field.

As you may know, there was recently a protest at Gallaudet which involved
discontent with the selection of a new president. The events at Gallaudet
highlight issues of language policy (i.e., how American Sign Language is
used at Gallaudet) and also how minority cultures relate to the majority
culture here in America, especially as it involves the question of members
of Deaf culture are simultaneously members of and relate to other members
of the majority culture.

If you would like to receive updates (press releases) on these events,
please follow this link and enter your e-mail address:
