On Nov. 7, I posted the following question to Linguist List, under the
heading of Intro Texts in Phonetics/Phonology for Language Teachers:

“Can anyone on Linguist List recommend textbooks that could serve as
introductions to Phonetics and Phonology? Specifically, the target
audiences are Masters level students who plan on becoming Language
Teachers (not just TESOL) or, even possibly, Speech Pathologists. These
students do not plan on pursuing careers in Linguistics beyond the MA.
However, they need to be able to describe and assess intelligibility and
phonological acquisition in the language or languages that they teach.”

I have received numerous and useful responses. I thank all whose replies I
have received. Tucker Childs was especially helpful and knowledgeable.

Here are the texts that were recommended. First, are texts for Phonetics.
Second, are texts for Phonetics & Phonology combined or just Phonology. A
few websites are also included which give further information on specific
books. I have tried each of these websites with no problems to report.
