University or Organization: Michigan State University Department: Linguistics and Languages Job Rank: Assistant Professor Specialty Areas: African Languages Required Language(s): Hausa (hau) Description: The Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian and African Languages at Michigan State University will make a three-year, fixed-term appointment at the Assistant Professor level in African languages to begin on or after August 16, 2006. Teaching duties will include a 0.5 appointment teaching Hausa (or another West-African language) and 0.5 coordinating the African Language Program and its faculty-supervised, individualized-instruction offerings. The appointee also will be a core faculty member of the MSU African Studies Center. Ph.D. by time of appointment. Review of applications will begin on March 1, 2006.
