We invite applications for a permanent post at Senior Lecturer/Lecturer level. The applicant must be specialised in Sociolinguistics, preferably in those areas which are pertinent to South Africa. In addition, the applicant should have expertise in one or more of the following fields: - Applied Linguistics - Pragmatics - English Language Development We are, in the first instance, looking to appoint a Senior Lecturer. Should no suitable candidate be found, consideration will be given to an appointment at Lecturer level. Minimum Requirements Senior Lecturer: - An appropriate PhD. - Experience in tertiary-level teaching (both undergraduate and postgraduate). - Significant record of appropriate published research. Lecturer: - An appropriate PhD or one nearing completion. - Experience in tertiary-level teaching. - Evidence of appropriate active research. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, pursue research, participate in curriculum development and programme administration, and engage in postgraduate supervision at MA and PhD level, particularly though not exclusively in the field of Sociolinguistics. Applicants may also be required to teach introductory courses in Linguistics/Applied Linguistics in areas outside their specialisation. The remuneration package offered includes benefits and will be dependent on the qualifications and/or experience of the successful applicant.
