Meeting Description:
In collaboration with a number of universities, Nankai University, Tianjin, China is to host a seminar on (Critical) Discourse Analysis between 5-7 April 2006 and an International Colloquium on New Discourses in Contemporary China between 8-10 April 2006. Invited speakers include Professor Paul Chilton and Professor Ruth Wodak. Topics of the colloquium include: -The Newly Emergent Social Groups in Contemporary China and Their Discourses -Government and Other Institutional Discourses -Discourse and the Construction of Social Identity -The Western Media Perception of China/The Chinese Media Perception of the West -Discourse, Ideology, Power Asymmetry and Social Change
The working languages of the International Colloquium will be Chinese and English.
