Monash South Africa offers undergraduate courses in French Studies at beginner and post-beginner levels and expects to expand those offerings in both core French Studies units involving language and culture acquisition and specialized Francophone Studies units. The School of Arts is part of the Monash University Faculty of Arts. There is close liaison between Faculty staff on all the Monash University campuses, with teaching, tutoring and assessment responsibilities well co-ordinated between the campuses. The School seeks to appoint one enthusiastic academic with the following qualities: At Lecturer level: - Native or near-native competence in French - MA or PhD in any field of French Studies - An established or developing experience in curriculum development and teaching at undergraduate level in French language and French and Francophone culture acquisition and a proven ability to develop new undergraduate units and components of units in that area. - An established or developing specialist research and publication interest in French Studies (preference will be given to candidates with an interest in African Francophone Studies) - An established or developing experience in scholarly lecturing and tuition at post graduate level in French Studies in that area of research and publication - Administrative skills appropriate to the position At Senior Lecturer level: - Native or near-native competence in French. - A minimum of a PhD or equivalent in any field of French Studies (preference will be given to candidates with an interest in African Francophone Studies) - An established or developing experience in curriculum development and teaching at undergraduate level in French language and French and Francophone culture acquisition and a proven ability to develop new undergraduate units and components of units in that area. - An established and continuing specialist research and high quality publication interest in French Studies (preference will be given to candidates with an interest in African Francophone Studies) - An established experience in scholarly lecturing and tuition at post graduate level and proven ability to develop new post graduate units and programmes in their chosen area of academic speciality - A proven capacity to supervise higher research degrees. - Academic and administrative leadership ability All candidates are expected to have a broad scholarly knowledge of French and Francophone Studies.
