The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.
Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page at http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been
set up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

Duties include teaching and examination in the BA, MA and Lehramt degree courses offered by the English Department and collaboration on an interdisciplinary MA in Medieval Studies. Alongside the core areas of English linguistics (phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics), the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and research in diachronic linguistics, preferably with a focus on Old and/or Middle English. However, successful candidates who have not previously held a professorial position will initially be employed on a three-year contract. Exceptions to this rule may be made if appointments from abroad or from outside tertiary education would not otherwise be possible. No further application process is necessary for the post to be made permanent. The university is striving to increase the proportion of women in teaching and research and expressly welcomes applications from suitably qualified female candidates. Candidates with a serious disability will be given preference over equally qualified able-bodied applicants.
