Subject: Obituary: H. A. Gleason
Henry Alan Gleason died in his sleep Friday evening, January 12, 2007, at the age of 89. He was a major figure in American linguistics during the last half of the past century, perhaps best known for his Introduction to Descriptive Linguistics, on which an entire generation of students cut their linguistic teeth.
