Fall School in Linguistics Short Title: EALING V Date: 24-Sep-2007 - 02-Oct-2007 Location: Paris, France Contact: Ernest Ulm Contact Email: ealing ens.fr Meeting URL: http://ealing.cognition.ens.fr Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics Meeting Description: The Department of Cognitive Studies at the Paris Ecole Normale Supérieure(ENS) with the support of the ENS Foundation and of the École doctorale 'Cognition, Langage, Interaction' of Université de Paris-8 organizes its fifth international Fall School in Linguistics (on the 'summer school' model). The goal of this interdisciplinary Fall school is to provide exposure to linguistic theory and grammar based approaches to cognitive studies. The content varies from year to year, but typically includes: - General non technical introductions to contemporary linguistic research - Intensive introductory courses to some core areas of linguistic theory or relevant domains - Seminars and talks on current research - Interaction between research in grammar and some related domains e.g. Psycholinguistics of Acquisition or of processing, Neurolinguistics, Experimental Pragmatics, Philosophy of Language/Mind etc... This Fall school will be held at the Ecole Normale Superieure (45 rue d'Ulm, 75005 Paris: see http://www.ens.fr, from Monday, September the 24th to October the 2nd included. Teachers and Lecturers will include: Elena Anagnostopoulou, University of Crete Nicholas Asher, IRIT Toulouse, University of Texas, Austin Emmanuel Chemla, Laboratoire de Sciences Cognitives et Psycholinguistique, Paris Hamida Demirdache, Université de Nantes Emmanuel Dupoux, Laboratoire de Sciences Cognitives et Psycholinguistique, Paris Pierre Jacob, Institut Jean Nicod, Paris Kyle Johnson, University of Massachusetts Amherst Friederike Moltmann, Université Paris I Orin Percus, Université de Nantes Maria Polinsky, Harvard University Tobias Scheer, Université de Nice Michal Starke, University of Tromso Kie Zuraw, UCLA In addition, new this year, in a small number of courses, help will be available to beginners in the form of sections. All relevant information regarding: - the registration procedure - teaching and lecturing faculty - calendar of courses, seminars and lectures - lodging and other practical information is posted and regularly updated on the EALing website:http://ealing.cognition.ens.fr Please address all correspondance to: ealing ens.fr Note: Registration fees: 90 euros Space is limited.
