Subject: New MA Program in Linguistics
Applications are now being accepted for the new Master's program in Linguistics at the University of Nova Gorica (Slovenia, EU). The deadline is September 15th for enrollment starting in the fall semester of 2007 (October 1st). There is no tuition fee for this program. This is a two-year Master's program that offers two possible sub-specializations in the shape of two partially independent curricula: Language and Communication. The program consists of three mandatory courses (Semantics, Syntax, and Phonetics/Phonology) and a total of 8 electives chosen from the two curricula. The list of electives (grouped in the two curricula), partially taught by visiting faculty, includes: Morpho-phonology, Syntax II, Neurolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Corpus linguistics, Historical linguistics, Philosophy of language, Sociolinguistics, Pragmatics, Logic and analytic philosophy, Rhetoric, Theory of communication, Semiotics, etc. An important part of the program is also directed research that should lead the students to their Master's thesis. The visiting faculty participating in this program include Giuseppe Longobardi, Zeljko Boskovic, Peter Ludlow, Carlo Semenza, and Dubravko Skiljan. More information on the program is available through our web-page http://www.ung.si/en/academic-programmes/106586/
