Dear Linguists,
I am excited to be the new Reviews Editor for LINGUIST LIST, and I would like to
thank Anthony Aristar, Helen Aristar-Dry, and the stellar Linguist staff for
this opportunity to serve the linguistics community. I would also like to
express my gratitude to the previous Reviews Team, Laura Buszard-Welcher and
Chas Warner, for their service and their help in transitioning.
We are presently implementing a new Reviews process. At the beginning of each
month, as usual, we will announce the books that are available for review;
however, from now on requesting books to review will be done through the
LINGUIST LIST website. If you want to review one of the available books, follow
these four steps:
Step 1: Log in to your LINGUIST user account at
https://linguistlist.org/people/personal/persdirlogin.cfm or from the Reviews
index page at https://linguistlist.org/pubs/reviews/index.html . If you do not
have an account, you will be able to create one.
Step 2: Please ensure that your personal information is accurate and updated,
and please add reviewer specific information on why you would be a good reviewer
for the books you select.
Step 3: Select up to five books you want to review from the month's AVAILABLE
FOR REVIEW list. Note that we will only assign one book per reviewer.
Step 4: Confirm book selection.
Once you confirm your book selection, you will receive an email with the list of
books that you submitted. You can log in again to make modifications on your
selection until the 20th of each month. On the 21st, the process of choosing
reviewers for the month begins. At that point, you will no longer be able to
choose books or send email to the reviews team through the book selection webpages.
We will assign reviewers at the end of the month, at which time you will receive
a message informing you whether you have been selected to review.
