This event draws participants from across the world to exchange ideas in a relaxed but stimulating environment. The aim of the conference is to bring together postgraduates from within the various areas of the discipline for them to present current research to their peers. We hope the days will be rewarding for all, both in learning and establishing new contacts. The theme of the conference is intentionally broad. Any postgraduate student (MA or PhD) is very welcome to submit an abstract on any topic related to linguistics (semantics, syntax, phonetics, phonology, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, pragmatics, computational linguistics, discourse analysis, applied linguistics, lexicology and lexicography). The language of the conference is English. Important dates: Abstract submission dates: 29 June 2007 Notification of acceptance: 20 July 2007 Registration deadline: 15 October 2007 Accommodation deadline: 20 September 2007 Conference date: 25-26 October 2007 Abstract submission guidelines: - Length: one A4 page (250-300 words) - Format: 1 spacing, 3cm left/right, top/bottom margins - Fonts: Times New Roman 12pt - Title of paper in bold capitals on the left-hand side of the first line - Together with the abstract, you should provide a cover sheet with the following information: - your name, - your affiliation (department and university), - your email address (the one you check regularly), - the title of the paper, and the area of research (e.g. syntax, phonetics, psycholinguistics, etc.). - Please send abstracts by email in Word or PDF version, with ''abstract submission'' in the subject field (we can only accept abstracts sent by e-mail as attachments), to the conference email address: MEUpostgraduate2007 gmail.com, by 29 June 2007. - Accepted papers will be 20 minutes in length plus 10 minutes discussion. Proceedings: Linguistics papers may be selected to appear in an edited volume of Mersin University Journal of Linguistics and Literature after the conference. Registration fee: The registration fee is fixed at 45 TL (approx. 25). Refreshments and lunch will be provided during the conference (payment included in the registration fee). Suggestions for overnight accommodation can be provided on request.
