Abstracts: The deadline for submission of abstracts for papers (20 min. + 10 min. for discussion) has been extended till March 1st, 2007, and decisions will be emailed to authors by April 15. Those who need an earlier decision on an abstract should contact the conference organizers (see below). Over the past decades, interest in how language is used has become more and more fundamental to theories in functional and cognitive linguistics. The aim of this conference is to bring together researchers interested in cognition, semantics and discourse properties of language to exchange research findings and foster the development of research in these areas. We welcome contributions to all aspects of language study, with a special focus on the interface of discourse, language and cognition. Scope: Submissions are cordially welcome in all areas related to language, discourse and cognition. Specifically, we invite abstracts including, but not limited to, the following fields: - Discourse-functional linguistics - Construction Grammar - Cognitive Semantics/Pragmatics - Psycholinguistics - Corpus Linguistics Form of Presentation: Each paper will be allotted thirty minutes (20 minutes for presentation plus 10 minutes for discussion) Submission Guidelines: Abstracts should be written in English. They are limited to one A4 page in 12-point font with 1'' margins, including references. Data and examples may be included in a separate page if necessary. Abstracts should be formatted as MS-WORD files (in ASCII) and must be anonymous. Please attach a separate page containing the following information: - author's name (In the case of joint authorship, one author should be designated for communication with CLDC-1) - author's affiliation - e-mail address - title of paper - three to five keywords Submissions should describe original and unpublished work. They will be reviewed according to their relevance to the conference theme, clarity of presentation, novelty of idea, and expected impact on future research within the area of focus. Notification of acceptance will be sent by March 31, 2007. Abstract submissions or requests regarding the conference should be addressed to Mr. Louis Wei-lun Lu at cldc2007ntu.edu.tw.
