Description:
An NLP Software Engineer works closely with medical language linguists to
develop techniques for state-of-the-art medical NLP. This person's
responsibilities will include development and refinement of algorithms for
doing document segmentation, lexical analysis, natural language parsing,
and conceptual indexing. Work will involve all aspects of software design
and development from system requirements definition to integration and
testing. An NLP Software Engineer will work under the direction of a more
senior NLP engineer or technical lead. This person is responsible for
implementing system requirements for complex customer systems and/or
preparing studies and analyzing existing systems. An NLP Engineer reports
to the Manager of NLP Development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Technical:
* Work will involve the development, enhancement, and maintenance of
complex software with thorough documentation of sophisticated algorithms
and procedures for installation and maintenance.
Qualifications
- Education:
* Bachelor or Master's degree in Linguistics, Computer Science, Computer
Engineering or a Computer-related discipline.
- Work Experience:
* 5-8 years related professional work experience required.
- Technical Skills:
* Minimum of 5 years strong programming skills in C++ with experience in
object-oriented design and development.
* Computational Linguistics: Phonetics, Morphology, Syntax and Semantics;
Regular Expressions, BNF Grammars, Natural Language Processing, Machine
Learning.
* Programming languages, at least three of the following: Perl, C#, Visual
Basic, VB.Net, ASP.Net, Lex, Yacc, and Yacc++
* SQL
* Experience with XML and XSLT is desirable.
