EALing 2007 - Fall School in Linguistics The Department of Cognitive Studies at the Paris Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) with the support of the ENS Foundation and of the École doctorale ''Cognition, Langage, Interaction'' of Université de Paris-8 organizes its fifth international Fall School in Linguistics (on the ''summer school'' model). The goal of this interdisciplinary Fall school is to provide exposure to linguistic theory and grammar based approaches to cognitive studies. Its content varies from year to year, but typically includes: * General non technical introductions to contemporary linguistic research * Intensive introductory courses to some core areas of linguistic theory or relevant domains * Seminars and talks on current research * Interaction between research in grammar and some related domains e.g. Psycholinguistics of Acquisition or of processing, Neurolinguistics, Experimental Pragmatics, Philosophy of Language/Mind etc... This Fall school will be held at the Ecole Normale Superieure (45 rue d'Ulm, 75005 Paris: see http://www.ens.fr, from Monday, September the 24th to October the 2nd included. Teachers and Lecturers will include: Elena Anagnostopoulou University of Crete Nicholas Asher IRIT, Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse Emmanuel Chemla LSCP, Ecole normale supérieure Hamida Demirdache Université de Nantes Emmanuel Dupoux LSCP, Ecole normale supérieure Pierre Jacob Institut Jean Nicod Kyle Johnson University of Massachusetts Amherst Hilda Koopman UCLA Friederike Moltmann Université Paris I Orin Percus Université de Nantes Maria Polinsky Harvard University Ian Roberts University of Cambridge Tobias Scheer Université de Nice Michal Starke University of Tromso Kie Zuraw UCLA In addition, *new* this year, in a small number of courses, help will be available to beginners in the form of sections. All relevant information regarding: - the registration procedure - teaching and lecturing faculty - calendar of courses, seminars and lectures - lodging and other practical information is posted and regularly updated on the EALing website: http://ealing.cognition.ens.fr Please address all correspondence to: ealing ens.fr Note on registration: Registration fees: 90 Euros Space is limited.
