CALL FOR PAPERS IN A BOOK: THE LANGUAGE AND DISCOURSE OF LAW Papers are invited from scholars working on the language and discourse of law for publication in the book, Exploring the Language and Discourse of Law. The papers, which could be of any length, should address the topics below or any other one that is considered relevant to the use of language in the legal profession and allying disciplines: The historical context of legal discourse Language in the courtroom Inter-textuality and the register of law Persons and policies in the language of law Archaisms and legal discourse The language of legal documents (contracts, agreements, etc.) Criminality and legal discourse Medicine and legal discourse Language and policing Sociology and legal discourse The family and legal discourse The law and literary discourse Land disputes and legal discourse Language use in tribunals Language use in lawyer/client/witness encounters Language use in lawyer/police encounters Internet and legal discourse The deadline for submission of articles is January 31, 2008. Authors should adopt the APA referencing style.
