Description:
The Department of Foreign Languages and Literature invites applications for
the positions of Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Early
British and American Literature, Comparative Literature, Critical Theory &
Culture Studies / Applied Linguistics or related fields. Aside from
specialty courses, he/she should be willing to teach one of the
undergraduate-level service courses such as freshman English, Composition,
Oral Training, etc. to both majors and non-majors. Dedication to
excellence in teaching and research is essential. Other responsibilities
include thesis supervision and miscellaneous service to the department. The
appointment is to be effective as of August 1, 2008.
Benefits include a retirement plan, reimbursement of up to NT$25,000 for
relocation expenses, and medical insurance for appointee and family. The
appointee will initially be offered a one-year contract. Reappointment
thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.

updated CV, a copy of PhD diploma, scholarly publications (at least 2
offprints of the last 5 years), 3 reference/recommendation letters, and
samples of syllabi on courses taught (or to be offered). Please send the

The University reserves the right not to make the appointment for the
position advertised, and the appointment will be made according to the
terms and conditions applicable at the time of offer.
Notes:
Salary Scales (per month; Approximately US$1 = NT33):
Professor NT$91,255 - NT$104,820
Associate Professor NT$85,765 - NT$88,665
Assistant Professor NT$68,190 - NT$77,880
The appointee will be paid 12.375 months during the first year of
employment, and 13.5 months for subsequent years.
