Description:
The Department of Linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania invites
applications for a position within the areas of formal pragmatics, formal
natural-language semantics, and the syntax-semantics interface. We
anticipate filling this position at the Assistant Professor level, but an
appointment with tenure might be possible for an exceptionally well
qualified candidate. The position is expected to begin on July 1, 2008 (or
soon thereafter, by mutual agreement).
While all candidates with expertise in any part of the range of subfields
specified will be considered, broad interdisciplinary expertise will be a
significant advantage. A PhD or other terminal degree (e.g. D.Phil) is
required. Candidates should present a proven record of research and
evidence of teaching experience.
Applications must include a curriculum vitae, a statement of research and
teaching interests, and representative publications. Applicants at the
Assistant Professor level should ask three referees to send letters of
reference directly to the search committee. Mail all materials in hard
