The conference will take place at a venue well known to most of you - Szczyrk, Poland: Hotel "Wókniarz", ul. Willowa 12 between 19th and 21st April 2007.ou are invited to present proposals for papers in the following areas of English studies: - General linguistics - Applied linguistics and second language acquisition - Teaching and teacher training - Translation and interpreting - British literature and culture - American literature and culture - Canadian literature - Post-colonial literature The Organizing Committee: Prof zw. dr hab. Danuta Gabry-Barker Dr Andrzej yda Dr Jacek Mydla Dr Marzena Kubisz Dr Adam Wojtaszek PASE 2007 19th-21st April 2007, Szczyrk Second Circular Dear Colleagues, Below you will find further information concerning the 16th annual PASE conference organised this year by the University of Silesia, Institute of English and Institute of British and American Culture and Literature, Sosnowiec. Academic Programme Plenary speakers: Prof David Singleton (Trinity College, Dublin) Prof. Dr. Erhard Reckwitz (University of Duisburg-Essen) Prof. dr hab. Henryk Kardela (UMCS, Lublin) Prof. dr hab. Andrzej Wicher (University of ódz, ódz) Prof. U dr hab. Rafal Molencki (University of Silesia, Sosnowiec) Prof. U dr hab. Zbigniew Biaas (University of Silesia, Sosnowiec) The list of accepted presentations has already been completed and all of you who submitted your abstracts should have received a notification of acceptance/rejection of your proposal. If not, please notify us of this fact. It is no longer possible to accept any more proposals. The provisional programme of the conference will be available on the conference page later on and also in the Third Circular (end of March). Registration Those of you who haven't sent your registration forms yet are kindly requested to do so by the 31st of January. You will find the registration form at the end of this circular, as well as in the First Circular and on the web page of the conference. Conference Fee Attention! We are sorry to inform you that unfortunately, we were forced to raise the conference fee by 22% (VAT) due to the new payment regulations at the university, enforced by the ministerial decisions. The total conference fee (the pre-conference fee of 100 PLN included) is now: for PASE members: 370 PLN for the other participants (non-PASE members): 420 PLN + the conference dinner: 60 PLN (paid separately on arrival in Szczyrk) The fee covers: conference materials, teas/coffees and complementary refreshments, the estimated cost of the publication and the invitations for our plenary speakers. Please remember to pay your pre-conference fee by January 31st, 2007. The rest of the money should be sent by April 10th, 2007. Please note that the organisers will not accept cash payments on arrival. Just to remind you, the account number is: 74 1050 1214 1000 0007 0000 7909, the beneficiary: Uniwersytet lski w Katowicach, ul. Bankowa 12, 40-007 Katowice, the title of the payment: PASE + your name It is important that you mark the payment with the sub-account name PASE + your name Please remember to bring confirmation of payment in order that we may trace your payment and register you at the conference. In case of cancellation before the 15th of April 2007, the payment will be refunded (less a handling fee). Accomodation The conference will take place in Szczyrk, at Hotel ''Wókniarz'', ul. Willowa 12, between 19th and 21st April 2007; arrival time: 18th April (late afternoon/evening). The hotel costs (the room and all the meals) are paid separately by each individual conference participant on arrival. The approximate costs for the whole stay are: · a single room and meals: 330 PLN* · a double room and meals: 270 PLN Unfortunately the hotel can offer few single rooms due to the large number of participants expected. Important Dates - payment of the pre-conference fee (100PLN): 31st January 2007 - submission of the registration forms (if not submitted earlier) 31st January 2007 - payment of the remaining conference fee: 10th April 2007 - cancellation (to receive a partial fee refund) 15th April 2007 Additional Information We have occasionally experienced problems with the conference web page, which are due to the malfunctioning of the university server.
