Europa e area mediterranea” (Language, culture and citizenship in migratory contexts. Europe and the Mediterranean area). Website: www.educ.um.edu.mt/aitlamalta The main areas of interest of the conference are: plurilingualism; citizenship in European migratory contexts; intercultural communication
Malta has been selected as the venue of this conference because its geographical position and its history are particularly pertinent to this theme, which is perfectly in accordance with the concept behind the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue (2008). In fact, issues discussed during the conference regard specifically cultural and linguistic diversity and the promotion of solidarity. Scholars, including academics and post-graduate students, will be attending the conference. In all participants will amount to circa 100 persons, mainly from Italy and from Malta. However, other participants will also come from other European countries: papers will be presented in English or Italian. Keynote speakers will come from Italy, Holland, UK and Germany.
