The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.
Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page at http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been
set up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

Applicants should be actively engaged in experimental research involving methods such as eye-tracking and event-related potentials. In addition, they should have considerable experience in computational modeling of aspects of human language processing as, e.g., spoken word recognition, syntactic processing, or discourse comprehension. These experiences involve the application of cognitive architectures and/or probabilistic processing and corpus-based methods. The ideal candidate would have a proven record of international cooperations, extensive experience in developing research programs, and an excellent record of obtaining research grants. In addition, required is an ability to teach high-quality courses within the BA/MA program in Linguistics and Computational Linguistics, covering topics such as experimental techniques, statistical foundations, and computational modeling. A good working knowledge of German is desirable but not required. Also expected is close cooperation with other researchers of the Faculty of Philology, particularly with linguists, and with researchers in adjacent departments such as Psychology and Philosophy. Please submit your formal application in writing to Dekanin der Fakultät für Philologie, Prof. Dr. Kornelia Freitag at the address given below.
