Meeting Description
The First Oxford Workshop on Romance Verb Morphology will be held in Trinity
College, Oxford, UK from 27-28 August 2008 (Wed-Thu). The conference aims to
provide a forum for presenting research carried out by the members of the
AHRC-funded research project 'Autonomous Morphology in Diachrony: comparative
evidence from the Romance languages' at the University of Oxford
(http://www.mod-langs.ox.ac.uk/romance-morphology/). The focus of this two-day
conference will be on basic features of the structure of Romance verb paradigms,
especially on the notion of autonomously morphological structures in the Romance
inflectional system and their importance in diachronic change in the
paradigmatic system.

Researchers working on verb morphology in the Romance languages are invited to
submit proposals for a special poster session. All abstracts with a length of
approximately 500 words must be submitted electronically to
oxmorphmod-langs.ox.ac.uk (in the body of the e-mail and as a pdf document) by
1 February 2008. Please use 'Abstract - Name(s) of author(s)' as the Subject
header and include, below the abstract, the following information, which should
constitute the body of the message:

Meeting Description
The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research into Ancient Languages and Early
Stages of Modern Languages of the Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic
is going to organize a conference on the ancient IE languages (Greek,
Latin, Gothic, Old Slavonic etc.) and the early modern languages seen from
the perspectives of modern linguistics.
The conference will be held from the 28h (Sunday) of September to the 1st
(Wednesday) of October 2008.
The conference organizers welcome all papers on subjects from any area of
the historical linguistics (e.g. phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax,
semantics, pragmatics, dialects) which can be included in one of the
following sections of the conference:
a) Mycenaean, Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Byzantine and early Modern
Greek; other IE languages of the early Aegean and Balkan area.
b) Archaic, Classical and Vulgar Latin; other IE languages of the ancient
Italy and the early Western Mediterranean area.
c) Early stages of the modern Romance, German and Slavonic languages,
including Czech.
The talk should last ca. 20 minutes. There will be a ten-minute discussion
following each paper.

Deadline: 30 December 2007
The abstracts should not contain more than 200 words (up to 10 lines);
languages: English, French, German, Italian.

the abstracts submitted.
