Meeting Description:

In this workshop, leading figures in the field will discuss their work on (the
origin
of) language disorders in Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson's Disease is a progressive, degenerative neurological disease and the
diagnosis is made when the patient is presented with at least two of the major
motor symptoms: resting tremor, rigidity, and bradykinesia. Recent studies have
shown that the cardinal motor symptoms are often accompanied by various
cognitive impairments. Impairments in language, being a cognitive function, have
recently also been described, both at the word and at the sentence level.
Internationally, several laboratories are working on this topic.

For this workshop, international experts have been invited to present and discuss
the latest findings of their research on language functioning in Parkinson's
disease.

The target audience of the Workshop includes post-doctoral fellows, students, and
clinicians in the fields of Linguistics, Neurology, and Neuropsychology and others
with an interest in the current research on language, cognition, and Parkinson's
disease.
