Description:
The Berlin School of Mind and Brain invites applications for its interdisciplinary three-year doctoral program. The focus of the program is on the interface of traditional humanities and behavioral sciences (philosophy, social sciences, linguistics, behavioral and cognitive psychology) with neurosciences (neurophysiology, psychiatry, computational neuroscience, neurobiology). Main research topics are 'conscious and unconscious perception', 'decision-making' and 'language', 'brain plasticity and lifespan ontogeny', and 'mental disorders and brain dysfunction'. Students will be supervised by two professors, one from the 'mind sciences' and one from the 'brain sciences'. Applicants should have a Master's degree in philosophy, linguistics, psychology, neuroscience, psychiatry, computer science, biology, law, or economics - or another field related to mind/brain research. Students wishing to apply will have to present a research proposal which reflects the interdisciplinarity of the graduate program and clearly states the mind/brain aspect of their proposed project. Successful candidates can apply for a three-year scholarship. Applications of students who have secured funding already (scholarships, research positions) may be reviewed on a continuous basis throughout the year (15 January, 15 May, 15 September). Please visit our website for more information on the structure of the doctoral program, participating researchers and institutions, admission requirements and the application process. The school is funded by the national German Initiative for Excellence.
