held at the Europhras Conference 2008 in Helsinki (August, 13th - 16th 2008)

Description:
The evolution of research on specialized discourses (or languages for specific
purposes) reflects the evolution of research in other linguistic subfields over
the last fifty years. Whereas the first studies focused mainly - and sometimes
exclusively - on terms, researchers have then taken into account other
dimensions such as sentences and texts. This last level is nowadays often
considered as the only possible one as texts are supposed to be the ultimate
products for expert communication. Far from looking back at the past, this
workshop would like to focus on an intermediate level, between term and
sentence. At this level, both terminology and phraseology can serve as reference
disciplines. As translators and technical writers often point out, the actual
needs concern much more the combinatoric profile of terms than terms themselves.
For this reason, we would like in this workshop to investigate once again the
concept of ''specialized collocation'' (these are obligatory polylexical,
syntactically more or less fixed and seldom metaphorical). The papers presented
should not only deal with lexicographic praxis, but also with the theoretical
linguistic description of such units and the possibilities offered by the
automatic extraction of collocations from large corpora.
Our workshop at the Europhras conference 2008 in Helsinki should focus on these
three fields (linguistic theory, computational linguistics, lexicographic
treatment) and should try and answer some of the following questions:
-- At a theoretical level: Is the concept of collocation really valid for the
description of specialized discourses? Can specialized collocations be analyzed
as collocations in a non specialized environment? As collocations in specialized
discourses actually reflect a specialized knowledge structure, can they be
described in a mere lexical perspective? Which tools does phraseology provide
for the study of specialized collocations?
-- At a computational level: which theories and / or models make it possible to
use data extracted from large corpora for a more precise description of
collocations? What is the use of parallel corpora in this matter?
-- At a lexicographic level: how can tools (dictionaries, glossaries) be
developed that take into account the needs mentioned above? How can the
syntactic and / or conceptual fixity of collocations be described? How can the
conceptual underlying structures of collocations be represented? Are traditional
macrostructures of dictionaries adequate and specific enough for a reasonable
treatment of collocations? Which are the specific problems of bilingual
lexicography in this matter?
Organization:
Languages of the presentation: English, French, German and Spanish (i.e. the
four working languages of the Europhras society)
Paper proposals (20 mn presentation + 10 mn discussion): send a one-page
abstract (A4 format, Times New Roman 13, 2cm margins all around, single spacing)
with five references by December, 31st, 2007 to
laurent.gautierlli.univ-paris13.fr .
Publication: the presented papers will be published after anonymous reviewing by
two experts from the scientific committee.
Important Dates:
December 31st 2007: deadline for proposal submission
January 31st 2008: notification of acceptance
April 30th 2008: deadline for registration
All conference participants (including members of the European Society of
Phraseology) will have to pay a participation fee. The amount of the fee is
determined in accordance with the following categories:
A.1.: 50 euros (EUROPHRAS members with a regular income)
A.2.: 30 euros (EUROPHRAS members without a regular income or who pay a reduced
membership fee)
B.1.: 75 euros (non-members with a regular income)
B.2.: 50 euros (non-members without a regular income or who are entitled to a
reduced membership fee)
Non-members will have the opportunity to join EUROPHRAS at the conference, after
which they will pay participation fee A.1. or A.2. The organising team will also
try to find sponsoring for the participants in categories A.2. and B.2.

Appel à communications pour un atelier
dans le cadre du colloque Europhras 2008 à Helsinki (13-16 août 2008):
Les collocations dans les discours spécialisés:

Problématique:
Après des débuts presque entièrement consacrés au seul terme, la recherche sur
les discours spécialisés, dont l'évolution a suivi celle de la recherche en
sciences du langage, a élargi son champ d'investigation pour s'intéresser
progressivement à la phrase puis au texte spécialisé considéré par beaucoup à
l'heure actuelle comme l'unité d'analyse fondamentale, quand ce n'est pas
unique, au sein de laquelle cristallisent tous les traits caractéristiques de la
communication entre experts. Sans vouloir s'engager à rebours sur cette route
menant du terme au texte, cette proposition d'atelier souhaite faire une halte à
un niveau intermédiaire, celui de la mise en discours du terme pour l'étude de
laquelle la rencontre entre phraséologie et terminologie ne peut être que
bénéfique . Les besoins actuels, tant des traducteurs que des rédacteurs
spécialisés, révèlent en effet les carences des outils disponibles: plus que le
terme, c'est souvent son ''mode d'emploi'' qui pose problème invitant par là à
réinvestir le concept de collocation spécialisée (par essence polylexicale, plus
ou moins figée, plus rarement figurée), non seulement dans la pratique
lexicographique, mais aussi au niveau de la description linguistique théorique,
l'apport de l'informatique et du traitement automatique les langues naturelles
pour l'analyse de larges corpus électroniques ne pouvant plus aujourd'hui être
ignoré.
L'atelier que nous nous proposons d'organiser dans la cadre du colloque
Europhras 2008 à Helsinki, pourra donc s'articuler autour de ces trois axes en
cherchant à répondre, entre autres, aux interrogations suivantes:
- au niveau théorique tout d'abord: quelle est la validité du concept de
collocation pour la description des discours spécialisés? Peut-on y envisager
les collocations comme dans le cas du discours ordinaire? Compte tenu de son
ancrage conceptuel dans un domaine délimité, la collocation spécialisée
peut-elle être abordée à un niveau uniquement lexical? Quels outils théoriques
la phraséologie fournit-elle pour une étude plus ciblée du phénomène
colocationnel? Comment mesurer et rendre compte du degré de figement des
collocations spécialisées?
- au niveau informatique: quels modèles et / ou théories permettent d'utiliser
les données du traitement informatique de corpus spécialisés pour une
description ciblée des collocations spécialisées? Quel est l'apport des corpus
parallèles en la matière ?
- au niveau lexicographique: comment concevoir des outils (dictionnaires,
glossaires) tenant compte des besoins évoqués précédemment? Comment rendre
compte des faits de figement? Comment rendre compte de l'ancrage conceptuel des
collocations spécialisées? Les macrostructures traditionnelles des dictionnaires
fournissent-elles un cadre de description adéquat? Quels sont les problèmes
spécifiques de la lexicographie bilingue en la matière?

Langues de travail: allemand, anglais, français et espagnol (les quatre langues
de travail de la société Europhras)
Proposition de communication (20 mn + 10 mn de discussion) : résumé d'une page
(format A4, Times New Roman 13, interligne simple, marges de 2 cm) accompagné de
cinq références bibliographiques à envoyer avant le 31 décembre 2007 à
laurent.gautierlli.univ-paris13.fr.
Publication: une publication des Actes de l'atelier est prévue après expertise
anonyme des textes définitifs par un comité scientifique en cours de constitution
Calendrier:
31 décembre 2007: date limite de réception des propositions de communication
31 janvier 2008: réponse aux auteurs
30 avril 2008: date limite d'inscription
La participation au Congrès est subordonnée au paiement des frais d'inscription,
y compris pour les membres de la Société Européenne de Phraséologie. Le paiement
de ces frais d'inscription se fera selon le schéma suivant:

A.2.: 30 euros (jeunes chercheurs et membres s'acquittant de la cotisation réduite)

Les personnes non encore membres de la société auront la possibilité d'y adhérer

Congrès.

La colocación en los discursos especializados:

La investigación sobre el discurso de especialidad se ha centrado de manera
progresiva en la frase y en el texto especializado, considerado como la unidad
de análisis fundamental en la que cristalizan los rasgos característicos de la
comunicación entre expertos. Este taller quiere profundizar en el estudio de la
utilización del término en el discurso, ámbito en el que se inscribe el
fructífero encuentro entre fraseología y terminología. Las carencias a las que
tanto traductores como redactores especializados tienen que hacer frente a la
hora de consultar los instrumentos que se encuentran a su alcance indican que el
problema radica en el uso del término por lo que conviene retomar la noción de
colocación especializada no sólo en la práctica lexicográfica sino también a
nivel de la descripción lingüística teórica.
El taller, cuya organización se inscribe en el coloquio Europhras 2008 de
Helsinki, podría articularse en torno a tres directrices que pretenden responder
a las siguientes preguntas:
- en primer lugar a nivel teórico: ¿cuál es la pertinencia del concepto de
colocación en la descripción de los discursos especializados? ¿Podría ser
aplicado de la misma manera que en el discurso ordinario? En el ámbito de la
especialización, ¿podría ser abordado en un plano puramente léxical? ¿Qué
instrumentos teóricos proporciona la fraseología para el estudio de este
fenómeno? ¿Cómo medir y reseñar el grado de fijación de las colocaciones
especializadas?
- a nivel informático: ¿qué modelos y/o teorías permiten utilizar los datos del
tratamiento informático de obras especializadas para describir las colocaciones
especializadas? ¿Cuál es la aportación de las obras paralelas en la materia?
- a nivel lexicográfico: ¿cómo concebir los instrumentos (diccionarios,
glosarios) teniendo en cuenta las necesidades evocadas precedentemente? ¿Cómo
reseñar los casos de fijación? ¿Cómo reseñar el ancraje conceptual de las
colocaciones especializadas? ¿Las macroestructuras tradicionales de los
diccionarios proporcionan un marco de descripción adecuado? ¿Cuáles son los
problemas específicos de la lexicografía bilingüe en la materia?
Organización:
Idiomas del Congreso: alemán, inglés, francés y español (las cuatro lenguas de
la sociedad Europhras).
Propuestas de comunicación (20 mn + 10 mn de debate): resumen de una página
(formato A4, Times New Roman 13, interlineado sencillo, márgenes de 2 cm)
acompañado de cinco referencias bibliográficas a enivar antes del 31 de
diciembre de 2007 a la siguiente dirección: laurent.gautierlli.univ-paris13.fr
Publicación: las actas del congreso serán publicadas tras el estudio de los
textos definitivos, bajo anonimato, por parte de un comité científico
constituido a tales efectos.

30 de abril de 2008: fecha límite de inscripción
La participación al Congreso implica el pago de gastos de inscripción incluso
para los miembros de la Sociedad Europea de Fraseología. El pago de estas gastos
de inscripción se realizará según las siguientes tarifas:
A.1.: 50 euros (miembros de la Sociedad con ingresos regulares)
A.2.: 30 euros (jóvenes investigadores y miembros que cumplen los requisitos
para beneficiarse del descuento)
B.1.: 75 euros (personas no miembros de la Sociedad con ingresos regulares)
B.2.: 50 euros (personas no miembros que reúnen las condiciones para
beneficiarse del descuento)
Las personas que deseen convertirse en miembros de la Sociedad podrán manifestar
su adhesión durante el Congreso. En este caso, pagarán los gastos de inscripción
de 50 o 30 euros. El Comité de organización intentará buscar la financiación
necesaria para que las personas que se encuentren en los casos A.2 y B.2 puedan
participar en el Congreso.

Problematik:
Nach jahrzehntelanger Fokussierung auf Termini und terminologische
Fragestellungen hat sich das Untersuchungsfeld der Fachsprachenforschung - deren
Entwicklung mit der Entwicklung der Linguistik schlechthin einher geht -
beträchtlich erweitert: nach einer Periode satzbezogener Untersuchungen steht
heutzutage der Text im Mittelpunkt des Interesses, welcher immer mehr als
Untersuchungsobjekt par excellence betrachtet wird, in dem scheinbar alle
typischen Merkmale der Expertenkommunikation zum Tragen kommen. Keineswegs in
der Absicht, den Text wieder in den Hintergrund und den Terminus wieder in den
Vordergrund zu rücken, möchten wir mit diesem Workshop einen Beitrag leisten zu
einem besseren Verständnis der ?Zwischenstufe' zwischen Terminus und Text und
eine phraseologische Antwort geben auf die Frage nach den
Vertextungsmöglichkeiten von Termini.
Die jetzigen Bedürfnisse von Fachübersetzern bzw. - redakteuren machen
diesbezüglich die Mängel der verfügbaren Hilfsmittel deutlich: über den Terminus
hinaus vermissen sie oft genaue Angaben zu seinen aktuellen
?Gebrauchsbedingungen''. Dies macht u.E. eine Revidierung des in diesem
Zusammenhang oft bemühten Kollokations-Begriffes notwendig. Diese Revidierung
betrifft nicht nur die lexikographische Praxis, sondern auch die
linguistische/phraseologische Theoriebildung, zumal die Forschungsergebnisse der
Computerlinguistik und die Fortschritte der automatischen Verarbeitung
umfassender Korpora nicht mehr ignoriert werden können bzw. dürfen.
Unser Workshop auf der Europhras-Tagung 2008 in Helsinki soll also versuchen -
unter anderem - auf folgende drei Fragenkomplexe zu antworten:
- auf theoretischer Ebene: Ist der Kollokations-Begriff in Fachdiskursen
relevant? Können Kollokationen in Fachdiskursen so beschrieben werden wie in
nicht fachlichen Kommunikationssituationen? Können fachsprachliche Kollokationen
unter rein lexikalischem Gesichtspunkt betrachtet werden oder müssen andere
Ebenen (etwa die kognitive) mit einbezogen werden? Über welche methodologischen
Instrumentarien verfügt die Phraseologieforschung, um an Kollokationen
heranzukommen? Wie kann der Fixiertheitsgrad von Kollokationen beschrieben und
bemessen werden?
- auf computerlinguistischer Ebene: welche theoretischen Modelle erlauben es,
durch automatische Verarbeitung fachlicher Korpora gewonnene Daten für eine
gezieltere Erfassung von Kollokationen zu verwenden? Was bringen parallele Korpora?
- auf lexikographischer Ebene: wie sind Hilfsmittel (Wörterbücher, Glossare) zu
entwerfen, die den vorhin erwähnten Bedürfnissen Rechnung tragen? Wie kann die
Fixiertheit von Kollokationen lexikographisch dokumentiert werden? Wie kann die
zugrunde liegende konzeptuelle Dimension erfasst und dargestellt werden? Liefern
die üblichen Makrostrukturen in traditionellen Wörterbüchern einen adäquaten
Rahmen? Mit welchen spezifischen Problemen ist die zweisprachige Lexikographie
konfrontiert?

Arbeitssprachen der Europhras-Gesellschaft)
Vorschläge für Präsentationen (20 mn + 10 mn Diskussion, einseitiges Abstract
[DIN-A4, Times New Roman 13 Punkte, einfacher Zeilenabstand, Ränder 2 cm] mit
fünf bibliographischen Hinweisen) senden Sie bitte bis 31.12.2007 an

Veröffentlichung: eine Veröffentlichung der Akten ist geplant. Die endgültigen
Aufsätze werden von zwei Mitgliedern des wissenschaftlichen Rates anonym
begutachtet, welcher über die Aufnahme der Texte in den Tagungsband entscheidet.

Bei der Tagung wird für alle Teilnehmer (also auch für die Mitglieder der
Europäischen Gesell¬schaft für Phraseologie) eine Teilnahmegebühr erhoben. Für
die Entrichtung der Gebühr gibt es folgende Kategorien:
A.1.: 50 Euro (reguläre Mitglieder/Mitglieder mit Einkommen)
A.2.: 30 Euro (Nachwuchswissenschaftler und Mitglieder, die einen reduzierten
Jahresbeitrag zahlen)
B.1.: 75 Euro (Nichtmitglieder mit Einkommen)
B.2.: 50 Euro (Nichtmitglieder, die einen Anspruch auf einen reduzierten
Jahresbeitrag hätten)
Für Nichtmitglieder besteht die Möglichkeit, der Gesellschaft an Ort und Stelle
beizutreten; in diesem Falle wird eine Gebühr von 50 bzw. 30 Euro erhoben. Der
Organisationsausschuss wird sich um eine finanzielle Unterstützung bemühen, die
es Personen, die A.2. bzw. B.2. zahlen, er¬möglichen soll, an der Tagung
teilzunehmen.
