Meeting Description
Coloquio María Teresa Fernández de Miranda: Las lenguas otomangues y oaxaqueñas
ante el siglo XXI se celebrará en la ciudad de Oaxaca el 11, 12 y 13 de abril de
2008, nos reuniremos diversas personas interesadas en las lenguas otomangues y
las lenguas no otomangues de Oaxaca.
La familia lingüística otomangue es la más diversa en México en cuanto a la
tipología de las lenguas y su clasificación histórica. Pero también es la
familia más extensa en términos de número de hablantesque probablemente
sobrepasa un millóny en su amplia distribución. Las lenguas otomangues se hablan
desde San Luis Potosí en el norte hasta Oaxaca en el sur. Antiguamente se
hablaban también desde Chiapas hasta Costa Rica. La mayor concentración de las
lenguas otomangues se halla en el estado de Oaxaca, donde también se hablan
varias otras lenguas indígenas no otomangues, como el chontal, huave, mixe,
zoque y náhuatl.
Durante el coloquio, que se celebrará en la ciudad de Oaxaca el 11, 12 y 13 de
abril de 2008, nos reuniremos diversas personas interesadas en las lenguas
otomangues y las lenguas no otomangues de Oaxaca. Lingüistas y maestros, poetas
y escritores, hablantes y principiantes en el estudio de estas lenguas
compartiremos nuestros conocimientos e investigaciones; de la misma manera
reflexionaremos desde diversos puntos de vistas sobre la trayectoria histórica
de las lenguas otomangues/oaxaqueñas y su futuro.
Dedicamos el evento a la memoria de María Teresa Fernández de Miranda
(1923-1966), la primera profesionista titulada en lingüística en México. A pesar
de que su labor de lingüista duró menos de veinte años, hizo valiosas
aportaciones para la lingüística otomangue con sus estudios sobre el zapoteco,
la división popolocana y la división chiapaneco-mangue. En reconocimiento a su
labor acerca de estas lenguas, hemos organizado una serie de conferencias
magistrales dedicadas a ellas, así como un taller el 13 de abril enfocado en la
clasificación de sustantivos en lenguas otomangues y oaxaqueñas.
Convocatoria
Para proponer una ponencia de 20 minutos, le pedimos enviar su resumen, máxima
de una cuartilla, incluyendo bibliografía, el nombre del autor y su correo
electrónico de su ponencia al correo: informescoloquiofernandezdemiranda.org
Un comité de evaluación revisará todas las propuestas y notificará a los autores
cuáles se aceptarán como ponencias, por lo que solicitamos nos envíen un correo
electrónico donde podamos enviarles la respuesta.
Fecha límite de recepción de resúmenes: 10 de marzo de 2008.
Publicación del programa final: 18 de marzo de 2008.

Research Objects, Tools and Concepts
The ''Rencontres des Jeunes Chercheurs 2008'' conference invites young
researchers to discuss their theoretical frameworks and methodological
approaches in all fields of linguistics or text studies.
Different types of study may be proposed: case-studies, comparative or
diachronic studies, descriptions of methodological designs, use of a given tool
or concept, or historical linguistics.
The following topics may be explored (the list being non-exhaustive):
- How does one construct a research object?
- What are the appropriate (theoretical or methodological) tools for a given
object?
- How does one constitute a corpus as a function of his/hers (one = singular)
research object?
- What are the implications of a multiperspective/multidisciplinary approach for
one research object?
- In which way do the research object and the methodology mutually shape each
other?
A poster session is also proposed for candidates wishing to discuss other topics
in linguistics.

Submission:
Abstracts must be typed using font Times New Roman 12, single-spaced. They
should not exceed 1000 words (references included) for oral communications and
500 words (references included) for poster proposals. If a phonetic font is
needed, candidates will use the SILDoulos font, to be downloaded at

Abstracts will be sent to the organising committee via e-mail at the following

Two versions of the abstract in .rtf format are asked: the first version will be
named ''anon_surname-of-author_rjc2008.rtf'' (for example
