Assistant Professor in the School of Humanities (Linguistics) (Ref.: RF-2007/2008-404) Applications are invited for appointment as Assistant Professor in the School of Humanities (Linguistics), from September 1, 2008. The post will initially be made on a three-year fixed-term contract. Appointees who have demonstrated performance will be considered for tenure during the second three-year contract. Applicants should have a primary specialization in either phonetics or phonology, and should be prepared to teach in both areas. An additional area of interest would be an advantage. Applicants must have an active research profile and should be able to contribute to supervision of MPhil and PhD candidates. Information about the School can be obtained at http://humanities.hku.hk/. Annual salaries will be in the following ranges (subject to review from time to time at the entire discretion of the University), with starting salary depending on qualifications and experience: Assistant Professor : HK$474,600 - 733,440 (approximately US$1 = HK$7.8) The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave, and medical/dental benefits. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 16% of gross income.
