Institution/Organization: University of Surrey Department: CMC Level: MA / MSc Specialty Areas: Computational Linguistics Description: For the academic session 2007-8 we are offering a competitive bursary scheme for Surrey's MSc in Computing and Human Communication, with a fund of up to 8,000 pounds to be distributed on the basis of merit to students on the MSc. MSC COMPUTING AND HUMAN COMMUNICATION: This programme is designed to train graduates from humanities and social science backgrounds as information systems professionals with a particular emphasis on understanding standardisation and diversification of computing systems as they impact on human communication and language. The programme will equip graduates with marketable skills in computing, tuned to the needs of a diverse global market where knowledge and understanding of the complexity of human communication are highly valued. The application deadline for bursaries is July 13, but applications for the MSc will still be considered after this date.
